SaltyCustoms Yearly Recap - 2017

As the year comes to a close, the team here at Saltycustoms wanted to take some time to look back at our entire journey this past year and highlight to you some of the amazing things we’ve done over the past 12 months. We have created a short video to mark some of our milestones this year.

We also decided to ask a few of our directors what they thought of the year and what they think 2018 has in store for us.

John Paul Chen : Managing Director

What are the successes you are most proud of this year?

The first success that comes to mind is the company’s transition to a digital, more automated business which is in line with our vision. As well as the coming together of our company during this tough year to pull through for a more exciting 2018!

What did you think were the highlights of the year?

The first would be the launch of our e-commerce business coupled with the digital transformation of our back-end. We are in the midst of launching exciting changes to our systems and processes that will promise a better experience for our customers in 2018.

Who would you like to thank?

I would love to thank our customers first and foremost, who have continued to support us despite this transition. We want to highlight your patience and understanding and we want to thank you for that. We will come back stronger and better for you. Lastly, I would like to thank our people here at Saltycustoms who have continued to believe in our vision. We will succeed beyond measure in 2018 and when that happens, all the hard work and adversities will be worth it.

What are your goals for the company in the coming year?

All in all, we want to deliver an amazing experience to our customers through our new innovative digital solutions. We are also looking to create a more sustainable product through CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities and environment friendly innovation. This will be supported with the use of technology and market research to create and develop innovation for the custom apparel industry.

In conclusion we are looking to better our product while also ensuring we empower each individual in our company to drive our company to greatness. A company is only as good as its people and this year we are continuing the efforts of reinvesting into our people to make sure we all achieve greatness.

King Quah : Co-Founder and Group Managing Director

What are the successes you are most proud of this year?

A year ago, we strategised bringing the business from a traditional manufacturing company forward and integrate it with tech. A year on, I can safely say that we have been mighty successful at this.

We are now a tech merchandising business specialising in innovative ways for people to gain access to the custom apparel industry. This changes the way our customers interact with us and how we interact with them.

We also got a new office this year which is a tremendous milestone for us and we are also on our way to obtaining our MSC status.

What did you think were the highlights of the year?

The biggest highlight of the year would be getting the approval from Jack Ma, Richard Branson and Usain Bolt’s team for Saltycustoms to design and collaborate with them for the Global Transformation Forum that happened in March this year.

I had the privilege of meeting all three of them in the flesh and meeting Usain Bolt in person.

What are your goals for the company in the coming year?

You can expect to hear a lot from us in 2018 as we are only just getting started. I would like to humbly thank everyone for their undying support and we will continue to strive to be at the forefront of innovation in the apparel industry.

Cedric Cha : Director of Brand and Product Design

What are the successes you are most proud of this year?

Some of the successes that made me proud this year would be the birth of the Brand and Product Design Department as well as the redesigning of Saltycustoms’ new website. I was also put in charge of creating Saltycustoms’ new design language which I am very proud of as well.

Some of the bigger successes would be selling over 2000 t-shirts in 2 weeks with Epicism and handing them a huge cheque of over RM 40,000. We also just recently broke the RM 1 million mark for a single deal.

What did you think were the highlights of this year?

The creation of Launch and the Smart Sizing platform would be on top. Plus, the revival of our Online Configurator as well as our app, Doobie. We also established new departments and re-established some old ones. These include the Brand and Product Design, Marketing and Human Capital.

We are also incredibly happy to have industry experts to have joined us on the team as well. As we grow, we also invested in growing the team as well.

Who would you like to thank?

I would like to thank our Managing Director, John Paul Chen for a fresh eye in leadership. In addition to that, I would love to thank the Saltysquad for sticking through with us through thick and thin. We have been thriving in what has turned out to be an incredibly meaningful year for all of us.

What are your goals for the company in the coming year?

The main goal is to strengthen the Saltycustoms brand. We also plan to develop and establish our 4 business verticals which are Enterprise, Launch, Online Configurator and Doobie.

Also, I plan to hit all the goals, targets and KPIs so that the team can be rewarded handsomely for it. We are all looking forward to a huge holiday with the entire team by the end of 2018!

That’s it from the directors here at Saltycustoms. All in all, we want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and we just wanted to take this time to thank you all very much. For sticking with us through this year and for entrusting us with your orders. We look forward to serve all of you the best we can in the coming year.
